***3rd through 8th grade Iowa Assessment Testing---April 17-21st*** ***No School on Friday, April 28th ---Golf Tournament*** Iowa Assessments 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Iowa Assessments this coming week, April 17-21st. Please do not schedule any unnecessary appointments during this week. Students need to get plenty of sleep, eat a protein-rich breakfast, get to school on time, and be sure they have a water bottle and a healthy snack each day. Please visit with your children about doing their best on the tests. There is no reason for the students to feel stressed or uneasy about the tests. Through their regular class work, the students are more than prepared. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month Did you know...Child abuse can occur in every culture and every socio-economic demographic. Peer reviewed research, especially that of the past 30 years, repeatedly shows this to be true. This same research indicates that the vast majority of child abuse occurs at the hands of someone known to the victim. Those who seek to do harm to children will pursue opportunities that provide access to children and may even ingratiate themselves into the home. You can protect children by respecting the safe environment protocols established at youth serving organizations. More importantly, you can implement many of these protocols in your home and be ever observant and vigilant in all public and private settings. Save the Date - Saturday, May 13th We will be having wood chips delivered for our playground, and we will need LOTS of help to spread the wood chips. Please reserve the morning of Saturday, May 13th to help. We plan to work from 8am-Noon. Many hands make light work! The plan is to have a couple of Bobcats to load wheelbarrows/hand carts with the wood chips that parent volunteers can wheel to where they are needed to dump and spread with rakes and pitchforks. Free Dress Pass for Middle School Students who attend the Jason Evert talk on April 23rd Jason Evert is speaking at St. John LaLande Parish. Middle School students who attend with a parent can earn a free dress pass. Each K-5 parent who attends can earn one free dress pass for one child. Be sure to stop and see Mrs. Martin at the event that night to get your name on the list for a dress pass to be given out at school the next week. Get Your tickets now! Two amazing talks, dinner, Adoration and a swag bag for each attendee! Use the QR code on the flyer (attached below) to buy tickets. We would love it if all the MS students and families would attend. This will also be great information for parents and grandparents of children in Kindergarten through 5th grades. Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist will be hosting Franciscan Spirit Camp Franciscan Spirit Camp is a one day spirituality camp for girls completing 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade. This years' theme is the Adventures of St. Anthony of Padua. This year's camp is scheduled for Saturday, June 10. It is fun-and-faith-filled day. The camp is hosted at the Mother House in Independence, MO. See the flyer below for more information.
